We had Seven VW's caravan down to the Fort Wayne show this year. We started out at Perkins in South Bend and travelled
the TollRoad to the show without incident. The ride home was a different story for some.

The Fort Wayne group knows how to hold a show. I was presented with a "Top 25" plaque for my 65 Beetle. Totally
unexpected and a great honor to know that my VW still shows out well despite being a driver. I did add the Ski rack this year
and am getting allot of ribbing from people who seem to take joy in telling me it's summer (Duh) and there is no snow (Double
Duh).  Oh well, at least they notice the VW !.

after the awards we departed towards Auburn to get a bite to eat but alas we had a casualty. Kevin's 68 VW (named Francis)
decided to stall out while on highway 69.  Despite a new fuel pump and the group from Michigan stopping to offer assistance,
the 68 could not be coaxed back to life. after finding out that on Saturday afternoon in Auburn Indiana there are NO tow trucks
available, anywhere. We procured a tow strap from Autozone and Ron Easton pulled Francis to the Auburn exit and into a
Hardees parking lot. Ron Easton then bypassed the entire fuel line (See Pict's) to try to keep Francis running. It worked for
about 15 miles but Francis died on the road a gain. Kevin parked him at a truck stop and came back for him with a trailer the
next day.

The last tragedy of the day came when I pulled the 65 into my garage after a 6 hour trip getting home from Fort Wayne. I forgot
to take off the skis......Now one is a bit shorter. They make an interesting snap when the break off on the garage door frame.
