Ron,

I have sent you a few pictures that you could post on the web page.   I gave the camera to
Meghan and she did pretty good.

I ventured out down to Kokomo in my '66' .  This was the first road trip since completion
and the journey down and back was without any problems.  As a matter of fact the keys
were never locked in the vehicle so what more can a person ask.  When I finally arrived in
downtown Kokomo, I was greeted by the friendly staff of "City of First VW Club".  They saw
that I drove from South Bend and were stoked that I made the trip.  There were about forty
v-dubs of all types ranging from Buses and Things to stock bugs, trikes and drag cars.

There were three tents one that served authentic brats and kraut with tasty German
potato salad, another for entertainment that had  German music, and the final tent hosted
the important beer garden.  They sold club t-shirts and passed out goody bags.

Sounds like Indy has a very large club with a membership around 500.  They tried to get
me to sign up, but I told them they had nothing on the MVWG!

Overall it was not the largest venue, but a fun one to attend.  I would go again.  In
conjunction to the Oktoberfest is the James Dean Festival that is also held this weekend.
This event brings in hundreds of classic rides into the Kokomo area.  Very cool to see old
street rods outnumbering normal day transportation.
